Unfortunately I am here to report another loss against the New York Giants today with a final score of 27-17. The Philadelphia Eagles, now 4-6, have not lost four games in a row like this since the 1999 season. But good effort from the team, just not enough.

Without injured Donovan McNabb and controversial Terrell Owens, the Eagles still put up a good fight against the Eli Manning and the Giants. In place of McNabb was third-string quarterback Mike McMahon, who started of shaky the first of the game, but made a strong improve the second half. The first and second quarter where extremely disappointing as the Eagles fell 10 points behind the unstoppable Giants.

McMahon proved his skills as a quarterback the second half of the game, completing a drive that lead to rookie, Reggie Brown’s 22 yard touchdown catch. During the fourth quarter McMahon made a 1 yard run touchdown, as well. Once again, though Eagles fans got themselves all excited for another loss.

The Philadelphia Eagles have finished first in the NFC East for the past four years; they now stand three games behind the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. In a bit of a bind, the Birds play at home next week against the Green Bay Packers, with a record of 2-7. Having an even worse track record this season, the Eagles may have a chance at a win next Sunday. I am also happy to say I will be attendance, so hopefully I will bring the team some luck. So all you Eagles fans out there, stay confident and look forward to next weeks game at the Lincoln Financial Field.

Week 10: vs Dallas Cowboys

Well Melanie and Seth, I do have agree with about all the TO talk, but he was definitely laughing himself to sleep after last nights disappointing game. Though dominating the field most of game, the Eagles let it go and lost to the Dallas Cowboys 21-20. This now puts the Eagles in last place of the NFC East with a ranking of 4-5.

The Eagles started the game on the right foot, with Westbrook scoring the first touchdown within minutes of the first quarter. They were running the ball well and looked like a collective team. The team appeared to have truly overcome all of the Terrell Owens distractions and was on their way to ending their losing streak. Even injured McNabb made a touchdown during the second quarter.

The Birds continued to dominate the game all the way through most of the fourth quarter. It was last four minutes on the clock, when the game took a turn for the worse. Cowboy’s wide receiver, Terry Glenn, finally caught a touchdown pass from quarterback, Drew Bledsoe, now making it a six point game with Eagles possession of the ball. Out of nowhere McNabb pass intend for Reggie Brown was intercepted by Dallas, Roy Williams and running the ball for another touchdown, taking lead from the Eagles. McNabb was sacked and had to be pulled out for the reminder of the game.

With two minutes left, emergency quarterback Mike McMahon filled in and made every attempt to for another touchdown. With four seconds left on the clock, the game depended on a field goal kicked by David Akers. Attempting to kick a 60 yard field goal, Akers was short. The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 21-20.

With McNabb most likely out for next weeks game, how will the Eagles rank against the New York Giants who are currently tied for first place in the NFC East.

Week 9: vs. Washington Redskins

It was a very eventful weekend for the Philadelphia Eagles and the drama just continues. Let’s start off with some good news – the Eagles finally extended running back Brian Westbrook’s contract for the next five years. His contract will now keep him an Eagle until 2010! Now for some controversial news – wide receiver Terrell Owens has officially been suspended for the season for comments he has recently made about the organization. News first broke about this suspension on Saturday, stating that TO will not be appearing at Sunday night’s game versus the Washington Redskins due to behavior that was detrimental toward the team. The real story came out on Sunday right before game time. Apparently Owens fought defensive end, Hugh Douglas in the rehab room on Thursday and challenged others. Monday TO stated the alleged fighting is all rumor. So how will the Eagles do the rest of the season without one of their “star” players?

On to even more disappointing news, after last night’s let down game the Eagles are officially in last place for the NFC east. The Birds lost 10-17 to the Washington Redskin, who they were tied for last place in the conference entering the game. The Eagles did score early in the game and entered the second quarter ahead. The Redskins quickly stepped up and gained a three point lead before the second half. They continued their defeat, only allowing the Eagles to slip in one more touchdown. The Eagles lost their chances of a tie score in the last two minutes of the game, when McNabb’s pass was intercepted. McNabb did flaunt a little of his old self prior to his sports hernia and rib injuries. Rookie, Reggie Brown scored his first touchdown as a Philadelphia Eagle. As TO replacement, Brown may truly be an asset to the team. The team was also happy to have kicker David Akers back on the field.

What’s up next? The Philadelphia Eagles go head to head with the Dallas Cowboys Monday night at the Lincoln Financial. At their last meeting during week 5, the Cowboys destroyed the Birds. Hopefully with practice this and the drama settling, the Eagles can make a comeback.

Week 8: vs. Denver Broncos

I am very disappointed to write this week’s blog about the game played on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. As Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter stated, “It was an old fashioned butt-whupping (Espn.com).” With a strong start and an Eagles attempt to rally in the middle, the Broncos finished on top defeating the Birds with a whopping 21 – 49.

The Broncos quickly took the lead the first quarter with two touchdowns. Eagles defensive Jevon Kearse left the game injured during the first quarter and did not return the rest of day. After Denver leading 28-0 and McNabb throwing eleven incompletion passes, the Eagles finally scored a touchdown during the second the quarter. The Birds dominated the third quarter, with Owens and Westbrook both scoring touchdowns; leaving the Broncos with no chance of scoring. The game went down hill during the fourth quarter when the Broncos scored three consecutive touchdowns, locking a guaranteed win for the game.

The Broncos successfully took advantage of weak Eagles defense that usually opens the game. As the supposedly number one offensive team in the league, the Eagles definitely need to work on running the ball. McNabb’s injury is most certainty having a negative effect on the outcome the game. Denver easily shut out McNabb because they knew he would not be able to throw the ball deep.

This leaves the Philadelphia Eagles entering week 9 with a record of 4-3. They are tied in the NFC east with the Washington Redskin, who are they are set to play this Sunday at FedEx Field. Both teams are coming off embarrassing losses; the win could go to either team. Let’s keep out spirits high and Fly Eagles Fly!

Week 7: vs. San Diego Chargers

Well for all of you Philadelphia Eagle fans, they once again played a nail biting game on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. Barely pulling in a win, the slow starting game definitely ended with sirens. The Eagles won the game 20-17 with three minutes left on the clock and Matt Ware to thanks.

The first quarter was full of incomplete passes and penalties, ending with the scoreboard still 0-0. Finally in the second quarter, twenty five minutes into the game, Owens caught a touchdown pass from McNabb, and scored the first touchdown of the game. This is also the first touchdown the Eagles have made in six quarters! The second quarter ended full of more penalties and a score of 7-0, but the Eagles taking the lead into the second half.

The game really started going during the second half. Both teams stepped up and began to play the game. The Chargers were making a comeback and received a touchdown only trailing three points behind the Eagles going into the fourth quarter.

The Chargers quickly took a four point lead within two minutes of the fourth quarter. The Eagles of course made a comeback with a three point field goal and a touchdown which was recovered by Matt Ware. The fourth quarter was definitely action when sirens started going off in the stadium and warnings to exit the immediately. Of course as loyal Philadelphia fans, no one moved so they could watch the end of the game.

Sunday also began the Eagles annual fundraiser for breast cancer. They work along with other local businesses and Thomas Jefferson Hospital to raise money for research. To raise money they sell various Eagles merchandise in pink! Click here and you can help support the cause! The Eagles goal is sell 12,000 hats in 12 days! Can they do it?

Check back next week for more information and more highlights from week 8 games against the Denver Broncos!

Week 6: Bye

With week six as a much needed Bye week the team has a chance to regroup and practice. They can focus and strategize for the rest of the season to come. The fans must remember it is only two games lost and the majority of the season lies ahead of us.

So what is the main focus for the team with their week off? First, the players should relax and rest. They learned a lot during the Dallas game, that you have to play your best at every game no matter the team. The offense, which ranks number one in the league, needs to balance out its problems. The defense is working to improvement their pass rush, run defense and limiting big plays. The Eagles really need to step up for next weeks game, when was the last time they lost so badly to a team?

The Eagles are confident in bouncing back with this Sunday’s game at the Lincoln Financial field. They are hosting the San Diego Chargers, who currently hold a record of 3-3. So lets keep our fingers cross and hope for the best. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!

Week 5: vs. Dallas Cowboys

A very disappointing game for the Philadelphia Eagles, as the team failed to bring home a win from Dallas, Texas this Sunday. The favored team was trampled by the Cowboys, with an ending score of 10 – 33. In past ten meetings of the two teams, Dallas has lost to the Eagles nine times, so this was very surprising game for both sides.

The Cowboys quarterback, Drew Bledsoe, led the team to their victory, throwing two touchdown passes to Terry Glenn during the first quarter. Eagles’ defense Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown was unable to intercept the plays. After not scoring in the first quarter at all this season, Dallas was winning 17-0 before the Eagles even had a first down. By half time the Eagles were able to sneak in a three point field but were still trailing behind with a score of 27-3.

The second half was not much better for the Birds. They did manage one touchdown during the third quarter, which came on an 80 yard fumble return, making the score still a disappointing 30 – 10. Even though the Eagles were able to pull themselves out an eighteen point rut last week at Kansas City, the McNabb and Owens duo did not have it in them this week. Owens, who did not score a touchdown, was unable to do his infamous victory dance in the Dallas star.

So what did the Eagles do wrong this week? As Coach Andy Reid stated earlier, probably everything. This actually could have been the best Dallas as ever played in Coach Parcell’s 37 year history and the worst the Eagles have in a while.

This game leaves the Philadelphia 3 -2 (actually tied with Dallas in the NFC East) With week 6 as a bye week, the Eagles have plenty of time to brush up and work out some of the few kinks they have going on. Following their week off, the Eagles host the San Diego Chargers and hopefully the team will be back on track.

Week 4: vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Philadelphia Eagles did it once again – they beat the Kansas City Chiefs 37 – 31 on Sunday. Nothing could stop the injured Donovan McNabb, no aches, pains or even a determined Kansas City defense.

Kansas City dominated the first half of the game, scoring 17 points within the first 17 minutes of the game. The Eagles did seem to be overpowered - McNabb’s sports hernia, the special teams not so special, replacement kicker Todd France fouling up an extra point and field goal causing points to be missed.

Star of the game, Sheldon Brown, turned the game around with his 40 yard interception (first ever of his career), making the first touchdown for the Eagles. Unfortunately, Kansas City continued to show up the Eagles. The game went into half time with Kansas City leading the game 24 to 13.

After a half time pep talk from teammate Brain Dawkins and admitting the Chiefs won the first half of the game, the unstoppable Eagles were ready to smoke Kansas City out of the stadium. The turn around came in the 3rd quarter, and McNabb was the star of the show, throwing long passes displaying minimal discomfort. The Eagles scored 31 straight points turning a potential win for the Chiefs it into a definite victory for the Eagles. France warmed up the second half of the game and kicked three successful field goals.

Overcoming their streak of back luck the first half of the game, including the scoreboards and play clocks going out, the Eagles stepped up and grabbed another win. This game definitely kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Will McNabb hold in there for next weeks game at Texas Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys? Check back next week for more exciting highlights.

Week 3: vs. Oakland Raiders

With nine seconds left on the clock, injured kicker, David Akers, brought home another victory for the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. The crowd went crazy as Akers booted a 23- yard field goal to make the final score 23-20.

The game started off shaky for the Eagles, when Akers buckled right after the initial kickoff to begin the game. The Raiders scored the first touchdown of the game during the first quarter. Struggling against Raiders defense, McNabb was having trouble completing his passes. In the second quarter, Westbrook scored the first touchdown for the Eagles, but with Simoneau filling in for Akers, the extra point was blocked. With the Raiders gaining a three point field goal, the first half ended with the Raiders leading 10 - 6.

The second half of the game the Eagles were back on track and showing action on the field. One of the first plays of the third quarter McNabb missed a wide open Owens down the middle. But minutes later the two players proved success as Owen caught a touchdown pass from McNabb, gaining a lead in the game. This made Owen’s 100th career touchdown in the NFL. Akers limping onto the field effectively kicked the extra point taking the game to 13 - 10. Right before the end of the third quarter, Westbrook made his second touchdown of the game, bringing the Eagles into the fourth quarter with a lead of 20-10
During the fourth quarter the Raiders tired to step it up a little and definitely gave Eagles fans a scare. Within minutes of the last quarter, the Raiders gained a three point field goal, making the Eagles lead only seven points. With less than five minutes left on the clock, the Raiders tied the game with another touchdown. Making this the most excited part of the game, viewers sat on the edge of their seats to see if the Eagles could now gain victory. As always, the Eagles pulled through and defeated the Oakland Raiders in the last nine seconds.

Next week the Eagles are away and take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though Akers is definitely out for at least next weeks game, the Eagles are confident they will still bring home another victory.

Week 2: vs. San Francisco 49ers

Wow what a game on Sunday! The Eagles destroyed the 49ers 42 – 3 at the first home game of the season at the Lincoln Financial. The team that we all know and love as Philadelphia fans was back up to speed! Donavan McNabb, still a little sore from last Monday night’s injury, was able to show off his skills. He tied his career best of throwing 5 touchdown passes in a game (he did this last Dec. 5 in a victory over the Green Bay).

The 49ers did not stand a chance, within a minute of the first quarter the McNabb and Owens duo were back in full effect. McNabb threw a pass to Owens, who ran the ball 68 yards to make the first touchdown of the game. They even shared a high five after! L.J. mith caught a career-best nine passes for 119 yards and also one 6 yard touchdown in the first quarter.

The second quarter was just as exciting with McNabb’s 42 yard touchdown pass to TO making the game 21-0. That catch put TO over his 10,000 receiving yards – he is the 22nd NFL player in history to reach that rank! Westbrook also made a touchdown in the second quarter leaving the score at 28-0 at the end of the first half. During the 2nd quarter kicker, David Akers suffered an injury and Mark Simoneau filled in to complete Westbrook’s touchdown.

In the second half, the Eagles continued to defeat the San 49ers, giving them only a chance to score a 3 point field goal during the third quarter. The Eagles finished up the game with another touchdown by Greg Lewis. With an ending score of 42-3! The 49ers fully admit they did not play up to par and there are no excuses.

Eagles keep up the good work! Next weeks game is at the Lincoln against the already 0-2 Oakland Raiders.

Week 1: vs. Atlanta Falcons

Well, unfortunately the Philadelphia Eagles did not start off the season as we would have all wished for, with a 10 to 14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. But we can not become discouraged this early in the season. One game will not set us back from the final destination - the Superbowl in Detroit.

Even before the game began, there was much drama to be scene and heard on the field. During pregame warm-ups Eagles starting linebacker Jeremiah Trotter and Falcons cornerback Kevin Mathis entered into a scuffle and we both ejected from the game. Losing such an important player before the game put the Eagles on emotional edge.

With tension in the air, the Eagles fell behind 14 – 0 in the first quarter. Bad news continued for the Eagles when kicker D. Akers missed the 49 yard field goal. Then on an attempted pass to Owens, McNabb took a helmet hit to the chest and was shaken up on the sidelines. This was the cause of the ineffective passing throughout the entire game. With the absence of Eagles LB, Trotter, it led to Atlanta’s 200 rushing yards allowing the Falcons to virtually run at will. Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was on a roll and made the first touchdown of the game. With the Eagles defense not at par, the Falcons T. Duckett was able to score a one yard touchdown before the end of the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, with the Eagles behind by two touchdowns, they rallied back with a 9 play 78 yard drive, with McNabb throwing a touchdown pass to Brian Westbrook. Unfortunately the first half wrapped up with Akers missing another 49 yard field goal. At half time the tone of the game was pretty much set and the Eagles struggled all second half to find consistency in the offensive. The final score was 10-14, with the Eagles suffering a disappointing defeat. Coach Andy Reid will have to solve the offensive problems this week before Sundays game against the 49ers, who are coming off a surprising week one victory.

Check back after next weeks game for more highlights!

Hi! Welcome to my webpage dedicated to the Philadelphia Eagles! I am currently a senior at the University of Delaware. Growing up in the Philadelphia area, I have been an Eagles fan since the day i was born! I've roughed the games through snow, rain and terrible cold weather - all worth it to watch them play. Throughout the semester, look forward to the weekly updates after every game. Everyone should be looking forward to another incredible season played by an unbeatable team! After watching the team practice at Lehigh this summer, they are sure to make it to the Detriot this season! Westbrook finally ended contract talks and its ready to happily play. Unfortunately, our very own University of Delaware quarterback, Andy Hall, will be on the practice team this season. TO got the fans a little nervous, but with the TO and McNabb duo back in action together, there is definitely no stopping them. They proved their success in the preseason game against Cincinnait. The official season for the Eagles begins Monday against the Atlanta Falcons. It will be interesting to see TO play in his off season home town. Also can the Eagles handle the Falcon’s All Pro quarterback, Michael Vic. Its going to be exciting to see who walks away with the victory Monday night. Hopefully we see some high fives between Owens and McNabb
Rest as sure the Philadelphia Eagles will make fans happy as they make there way to the Superbowl once again. Check back weekly for updates and game highlights. Enjoy the opening weekend of fooball!!!p.s. comments welcome!

Welcome to Carah's blog
